Since my last post there have been a number of developments in Iceland. Many positive and some that require re-examining. Therefore I have dedicated this month’s blog post to adding additional information and including any changes. The question posed 1 month ago was, ‘Is it now the right time to come to Iceland?’
We are hungrier now more than ever before to marvel at the wonders of the world as the ‘travel drought’ has made our wanderlust that much stronger and given us itchy feet. The time will come when the new normal will once again include some of your old holiday favourites as well as different and more meaningful experiences.
While travel at this time may be the furthest thing from your mind, I think it is a great time to be planning your next adventure. If living in a pandemic has taught me anything I would have to say the greatest lesson is to really appreciate nature and wildlife.
One of the countries that has handled this pandemic in an excellent way is the country of New Zealand. As a matter of fact they have done so well that they are very close to being able to declare that the virus has been eliminated, so that to me would be a great place to plan your next getaway!
After hundreds of trips over the last few decades, the one thing that has always remained elusive to me is an elegant functional way to carry all of my essential valuables. You know the types of items that need to be kept safe yet within easy reach, such as your iPad, keys, wallets, chargers, credit cards, cords, pens and the like. Some end up being stuffed into my pockets or any other last-minute space I can find before departing to my next destination.
Without the regular revenue-flow from tourism, many of the conservation and community projects caring for Africa’s most vulnerable wildlife and people are themselves, now under threat. I spoke with several luxury lodges around Africa to hear their reflections, what isbeing done to mitigate loss, and most importantly what we can do to support.
As Autumn gives way to the crisp cool days, warm company, and well-earned peace of winter, the challenges of recent months begin to ease and fade. The land and people slow down and recuperate, taking stock as we look forward to the promise and hope of a newfound spring.
Sailing charters have seen a resurgence as more holidaymakers than ever want to reduce the environmental impact they have on the places they visit, and the Caribbean is one of the prime places to roam the seas in style. Leave the fast lane for an in-depth look at the amazing animals in environments that range from dense rainforest to coral-covered shipwrecks and be sure to pause on the powdery-soft white beaches for some well-earned rest in the sunshine.
Bali is renowned across the globe as the ‘last paradise’ for good reason. Images from this exotic land have long filled people the world over with dreams of that perfect holiday that brings together sun, sand, waves and world-class luxury. Then there are the volcanic mountains, lush green forests and unexplored getaways that leave you speechless.
Having been named one of Lonely Planet’s countries to travel to in 2020, Costa Rica is once again enjoying a moment the international spotlight. There are a lot of elements that make this pint-sized Latin American haven a favourite for those seeking a taste of the region including unique wildlife experiences, striking tropical scenery, the warmth of the friendly locals and finally, the outstanding quality of luxury hotels.
Latin America is a varied wonderland of snow-capped mountains, arid deserts and vibrant rainforests packed with weird and wonderful wildlife. Its luxury lodges, though, are a welcome contrast to their often inhospitable surrounds, offering the likes of luxe spas, gourmet dining, ultra-contemporary design and expert-led excursions that make for a holiday that’s as adventurous or relaxed as you like.
