Imagine planning a trip with a budget of $1 million. Some of us will never be able to do this, but it’s still fun to see what you could get for that much money when booking travel, lodging, and experiences.
Trips Around the World by Jet
The expeditions include not only access to a private jet but also a luxury itinerary that has been planned out to perfection. The hotels are very nice, and the meals are real and just for the group. Guests can learn a lot about a culture without having to worry about customs and immigration. If the destination needs visas, the team takes care of everything behind the scenes. During their trip, the guests’ bags will also be taken care of behind the scenes by ground staff. In addition to making the trip easy, the staff is ready to help with anything.
A doctor travels with the group to help with any health problems that might come up. The doctor always has emergency medicine with him or her, so clients can get the care they need at any time. Also, the flight crew stays the same for the whole trip and learns what each guest likes to eat and drink during the flight.
These trips start at about $100,000 per person, so for a million dollars, you could give this experience to nine of your friends and family.
Vacation on a private jet
This private jet experience also lets wealthy people see the world in a way that only VIPs can. This trip is held once a year for 30 to 40 people and usually lasts 20 days with seven to eight stops, usually one on each continent. These stops are usually in places that are hard to get to or that “normal” people don’t go to often. The trip plan changes every year, so you could go on this trip every year and never go to the same place twice. The “private jet” is a customised 757 Boeing with lie-flat seats, in-seat massagers, custom entertainment, and more.
The next trip is planned for May 6–29, 2023, and 48 people will go to Japan, Nepal, Bhutan, India, Uzbekistan, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Sicily. The trip includes private dinners, concerts, a helicopter ride around Everest, and more. The cost for each person is $153,900. These trips are meant to be once-in-a-lifetime vacations, and they always sell out.
You can bring five friends or family members with you for a million dollars.
Vacation on a luxury train
If private jets aren’t your thing, maybe a trip on a luxury train is more your style. If that’s the case, you should plan to take the Orient-Express.
The famous Belmond Venice Simplon Orient-Express takes you across Europe on the most luxurious train in the world. If you want to take a historic route, this is the best way to do it. The more luxurious a cabin, the higher the price.
Grand suites start at £7,350 ($8,488) per person and come with 24-hour butler service, free champagne, and private dining in the cabin. On a million-dollar budget, you can easily travel with a family of four and still have enough money for private jets to take you to and from the train station at the beginning and end of the trip.
If you’re going Down Under, you might want to take the Indian Pacific train from Sydney to Perth.
A platinum-class cabin on the Indian Pacific costs more than $5,000. It gives you the highest level of luxury as you travel across Australia. All meals and drinks are included, as well as a number of excursions off the train, and each cabin has its own bathroom. It’s a very nice train that lets you see parts of Australia that you can’t normally see unless you drive.
Don’t forget to include flights in your million-dollar budget, and you might want to stay longer at the Park Hyatt Sydney (more on that next!).
Super Yacht
The yacht has seven designer suites and a ratio of one crew member for every seven guests. On board, there are plenty of things to do.
You can relax in the jacuzzi or work out on the sundeck. The award-winning chefs serve gourmet food that goes well with South American wines.
Even though you can book individual suites, if you have a million dollars, it’s better to book the whole yacht.
You will be able to choose from all of the luxury suites, and you will also be able to have an even more refined and customised experience that is made to fit your needs and wants.
Starting at $26,500 per night, you can book a private charter for up to 16 people.
Flight to space by Virgin Galactic
What could be more out-of-this-world than a flight to outer space?
If I had to go on a unique and newsworthy trip that didn’t cost me anything, I would go on a space tour. It’s definitely risky and expensive, so it’s a great choice for a very expensive vacation.
A 90-minute flight on Virgin Galactic will cost you $450,000, so if you have a $1 million budget, you can bring a friend or loved one with you.
