Plans have been made for an “Avatar” experience at the Southern California theme park Disneyland.
At Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom theme park, Pandora: The World of Avatar is a land based on the James Cameron movie of the same name. It has two rides, the Avatar Flight of Passage and the Na’vi River Adventure, as well as the Valley of Mo’ara, themed restaurants, and merchandise. But when it comes to California, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger didn’t say anything more about whether these attractions would be duplicated on the west coast when he made the announcement on Wednesday.
Since its first movie came out in 2009, the “Avatar” franchise has become a huge hit. The most recent movie in the series, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” made more than $2 billion worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. The movies take place in the world of Pandora, which is full of lush scenery and places. During the earnings call, Iger also talked about how well the movie did on Disney+.
The Disney 100 celebration just started at Disneyland. This is part of a worldwide celebration of the Walt Disney Company. As part of the celebration, two new nighttime shows, Wondrous Journeys and World of ColoratONE, have opened. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a new family-friendly attraction, also opened.
Splash Mountain will also be closing soon. In 2024, it will reopen as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is based on the Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog.” In Disneyland’s New Orleans area, a restaurant called Tiana’s Palace will open later this year. It will be based on the movie. Mickey’s Toontown, a place for families, will get a new look and more space on March 8.
During the earnings calls, Iger also announced that “Frozen” and “Toy Story,” which are both very popular franchises, would be getting new movies. Walt Disney World has a land with a Toy Story theme, and later this year, Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris will get Frozen-themed lands.
