A recent poll by American Express Travel found that even while finances are tight, people are still venturing out of the country. Almost eighty per cent of people said leisure travel was a top financial priority.

In April, American Express Travel published its annual list of the best places to spend the summer in the United States.

The report’s rankings are based on responses from a survey taken online between February 3 and 11, 2023, by 3,000 frequent flyers from households with annual incomes of at least $70,000.

According to Audrey Hendley, President of Amex Travel,” Nothing inspires curiosity more than planning a trip,” the places that Card Members are visiting this summer satisfy that wanderlust.

There’s indeed something for everyone at the world’s best summer destinations.

According to American Express Travel, popular culture heavily influences travellers while planning their trips. Sixty-four per cent of people surveyed said they were motivated to visit a specific location after learning about it in the media.

All age groups continue to value personal recommendations from friends and family, but Generation Z and millennials place an even greater value on social media.

According to the survey, 46% of Gen Z and Millennial respondents and 29% of all respondents were encouraged to travel to a destination because of Instagram and TikTok, respectively, in 2023.

Sixty-one per cent of young people who have travelled say they have picked a location based on how appealing it seems in images and videos.
