“Take your time, be aware, and get on the plane” is some summer travel advice from London Stansted

During the busy summer months, the number of passengers is expected to be close to what it was before the pandemic. Since many people haven’t travelled in the last two years, the airport is reminding people how important it is to get to the terminal at the right time for their flights and to know all the security rules.

Steps to take this summer when travelling:
Follow your airline’s instructions about when to arrive at the terminal for check-in or bag drop, and don’t get there too early or too late. Getting to the airport too early can cause crowds and make your time at the airport less pleasant.

People going to the airport should check for road or rail problems that could slow them down.

Liquids in carry-on bags still have to be under 100ml and fit in a single clear, resealable bag. This means that hand sanitizer must also be under 100ml and fit in a single bag.

When you get to the security search area, you have to take all electronics out of your carry-on bag and lay them flat in your tray.

Nick Millar, who is in charge of operations at London Stansted, said:
“Since March, when international travel restrictions were lifted, airports all over the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world have seen huge jumps in the number of passengers. People are making up for lost time by going on vacations and trips to see family and friends. London Stansted has been one of the fastest-recovering airports in the UK, so we have worked very hard with our partners on-site to get the airport back to where it needs to be.”

“Since January, we’ve had a very successful recruitment campaign. We’ve filled hundreds of positions in our security operation to help provide this service, and we’re still helping our partners in the terminal, like stores and restaurants, as well as airlines, ground handlers, and the Border Force, who have also been hiring. As a result, our terminal operation and airline flight schedule have both gone well so far. We haven’t had to cancel many flights, and even though the terminal gets very busy, especially during peak hours, our security process has been stable, with most people going through in 15 minutes or less. We know that many passengers haven’t travelled in a few years, so we started the “Take time, take care, take flight” campaign to remind them of how they can avoid unnecessary delays at the airport.”

This campaign focuses on the important steps to take when planning your trip.

“It’s really important that passengers follow the instructions, especially about when to arrive at the terminal. We’ve seen a big increase in people showing up many hours before their scheduled departure, which can sometimes cause unnecessary congestion. And to improve the airport experience, the GBP12 million renovation of our departure lounge, which will add a lot of new bars, restaurants, and shops, will be done by the end of this month, just in time for the main school break.”

“It’s been great to see so many passengers back at London Stansted in the last few months. The busy summer months will be even more of a challenge for everyone at the airport, but passengers can be sure that we are all working very hard and doing everything we can to make sure their vacations start off as well as they can when they choose to fly from Stansted.”
