The travel hack that went viral on TikTok allows users to bring additional bags without having to pay extra for them.
When it comes to flying by aeroplane, there is one particular issue that each of us has confronted at some point in our lives: the issue of how much luggage we are allowed to bring on board.
There are times when low-cost airlines have unbelievable deals, and you just can’t say no to that $10 flight. So you buy the tickets, but when it’s time to start getting ready for your trip, you suddenly realise: where am I going to put everything I want to bring with me?
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that most of the time, low-cost airlines make up for their cheap plane tickets by charging a lot of extra fees. You can usually bring a small carry-on bag, sometimes even smaller than a backpack, for free, but you have to pay for anything else. People make fun of these practises on the internet, and even Jeenie Kwon, who used to work for Emirates, makes fun of the extra fees.
People have been trying to avoid paying those extra fees in any way they can think of, and their creativity is amazing. Passengers use all kinds of tricks and hacks to get that extra T-shirt or jacket on the plane.
Some people use the “wear as much as you can” method and put on as many clothes as they can until they get through security.
But this might be a little bit awkward.
A recent video on TikTok that went viral shows how easy it is to avoid paying for luggage. The woman, who goes by the username anayotothe, shows her followers how she can bring all the clothes she wants to Las Vegas without paying for a carry-on.
She shows what looks like a normal neck pillow, but then she flips it over, opens the zipper, and takes all the stuffing out. You probably already know what will happen next. She stuffs all the extra clothes that didn’t fit in the backpack into the now-empty neck pillow, which is surprisingly big.
Other people in the comments confirmed that the trick works and said they’ve been doing it for a long time, even with regular pillowcases and not just neck pillows: “You can also use a pillow like the one you have on your bed.” “I’ve been doing this for years with no problems!”
