Often Africa is left aside when looking for a luxury escape from everyday life. But the dark continent has a lot to offer, and not only for budget travelers but also for the ones that aren’t shy to spend some cash in return for the most exclusive travel experiences out there. Here are a few of my favorite experiences.
Europe has long had a tradition of wonderful festive markets and it seems that the UK is really beginning to catch up. With the Christmas season starting to kick in fully from early November onwards in Britain, it’s time to grab a glass of mulled wine and explore some locally crafted treats and inspiring gift ideas.
Tanzania is renowned for its abundance of wildlife and exceptional game viewing opportunities. With so many different camp and lodge options, there are also a plethora of many wonderful safari activities. With hot-air ballooning, walking and vehicular safaris being the norm for visitors, it is easy to fall in line with everyone else and miss some of the most exciting and adventurous activities.
When it comes to picturesque landscapes, seaside sunsets, and rich cultural heritage, there are few places in the New World that can compare to the New England region of the United States. From Maine down to Maryland, this countryside of seaports and cities is rich in history and patriotic spirit. The birthplace of the dream they called “America,” these states are home to some of the most beautiful resorts and luxury hotels in the country.
Since my last post there have been a number of developments in Iceland. Many positive and some that require re-examining. Therefore I have dedicated this month’s blog post to adding additional information and including any changes. The question posed 1 month ago was, ‘Is it now the right time to come to Iceland?’
We are hungrier now more than ever before to marvel at the wonders of the world as the ‘travel drought’ has made our wanderlust that much stronger and given us itchy feet. The time will come when the new normal will once again include some of your old holiday favourites as well as different and more meaningful experiences.
While travel at this time may be the furthest thing from your mind, I think it is a great time to be planning your next adventure. If living in a pandemic has taught me anything I would have to say the greatest lesson is to really appreciate nature and wildlife.
One of the countries that has handled this pandemic in an excellent way is the country of New Zealand. As a matter of fact they have done so well that they are very close to being able to declare that the virus has been eliminated, so that to me would be a great place to plan your next getaway!
After hundreds of trips over the last few decades, the one thing that has always remained elusive to me is an elegant functional way to carry all of my essential valuables. You know the types of items that need to be kept safe yet within easy reach, such as your iPad, keys, wallets, chargers, credit cards, cords, pens and the like. Some end up being stuffed into my pockets or any other last-minute space I can find before departing to my next destination.
Without the regular revenue-flow from tourism, many of the conservation and community projects caring for Africa’s most vulnerable wildlife and people are themselves, now under threat. I spoke with several luxury lodges around Africa to hear their reflections, what isbeing done to mitigate loss, and most importantly what we can do to support.
Sailing charters have seen a resurgence as more holidaymakers than ever want to reduce the environmental impact they have on the places they visit, and the Caribbean is one of the prime places to roam the seas in style. Leave the fast lane for an in-depth look at the amazing animals in environments that range from dense rainforest to coral-covered shipwrecks and be sure to pause on the powdery-soft white beaches for some well-earned rest in the sunshine.
